The Central Michigan women's basketball team will play a Mid-American Conference game on Saturday (2 p.m.) at Eastern Michigan. The Chippewas snapped a two-game losing streak on Wednesday with a 64-59 home win over MAC East-leading Ohio.
CMU sits third in the MAC West, one game behind first-place Northern Illinois. The Chippewas play at NIU on Wednesday, Feb. scored all 18 of her points in the second half to lead the Chippewas past Ohio on Wednesday. CMU went 16-for-16 from the free throw line against the Bobcats.
It marked the third time in program history that a Chippewa women's team was perfect from the charity stripe. CMU swept its three meetings with Eastern during the 2015-16 season. The Chippewas have won 10 consecutive home games, and are 11-1 at McGuirk Arena this season. SCOUTING EASTERN.
The Eagles' have struggled under first-year coach Fred Castro. Their lone league victory came on Jan. 25, over Bowling Green. Junior guard Sasha Daily leads the Eagles in scoring at 16.9 points per game.
Senior guard Phyllis Webb averages 14.1 points and a team-high 8.5 rebounds per game. Eastern ranks 10th in the MAC in scoring offense and in scoring defense. The Eagles are averaging 63.1 points per game and are surrendering an average of 69.4. CHIPPEWA NUMBERS. Sophomore guard continued to lead CMU, and ranks third in the MAC, at 18.3 points per game.
Three other CMU starters average in double figures. Moore is scoring at a 15-points-per game clip, while averages 12.3, and checks in at 11.7.
Sophomore forward is the MAC's top rebounder at 11.5 per game. She also averages 8.3 points per game. Cotton ranks second in the conferene with a.575 field goal percentage.
Hudson averages 4.2 assists per game, which ranks seventh in the MAC. APPROACHING THE TOP. CMU coach Sue Guevara needs four victories to become the all-time winningest coach in program history. Guevara, who is in her 10th year at CMU, has amassed a 168-139 record in charge of the program.
Donita Davenport, who coached the Chippewas from 1984-96, is the all-time leader.
