Or 'Standard Format' Visually there doesn't appear to be any difference when using with a PC running 2160p for videos, games and generals desktops usage, nor does there appear to be any change when using it for Amazon Prime 4K videos or Netflix. What media types is this option used for and what does it do? One thing I'm noticing is that if I run my PC to my TV with a 10m HDMI cable and I activate this 'enhanced HDMI port' setting, all works well in that the picture shows and in the nvidia control panel I can change the 'output dynamic range' from limited to full and the 'output color format' is RGB.
If I use the 15m version of the same make cable, the picture won't show unless I change to 'standard format' with the enhanced option set to 'off'. Also, In the nvidia control panel, 'full' is not an option so it runs at 'limited' and the color format is YCbCr420 with no option for RGB. Both cables run at 60hz.
If I switch to 1080p, the 15m can do the full dynamic range and RGB and seems to perform as well as the 10m. Tomo I have several different kinds of HDMI extenders/repeaters arriving and also a 12.5m version of this cable and 2x 7.5m versions so I can try various setups until I find the one that works. Goal is to connect the PC and TV over 12m so it runs at 60hz 2160p RGB with Full dynamic range in the nvidia control panel. If. Enhanced HDMI is just how Sony labels support for 10bit color, 4:4:4 chroma and HDR.
In laymen's terms 4:4:4 chroma is the highest clarity you can get in a picture with complete separation of luminance and color data while the other two chroma options are subsampled to save bandwith. Most films are formatted in 4:2:0 and is what you are used to seeing. As far as color goes; 10 bit panels can display over a billion colors and 8 bit panels only display 16.7 million colors.

10 bit color is starting to become the standard and is what you are seeing with Netflix HDR content, 4k Blu-Rays and new AAA video games. When you enable support for these things, you have to make sure the device you are hooking up actually supports these formats because it can cause visual issues if its not the case. For example the black levels might be way too black to see anything clearly. Also, these settings won't affect any of the TV's built-in smart TV apps.

I'm using a PC with 1080ti card and an Amazon Fire TV 4K so I think the sources are good for it. Using a 2017 Sony HDR 4k mid/high end model TV. I truthfully cannot tell the difference in when it's running on a short cable in 'enhanced mode' with the full dynamic range and rgb color on the enhanced mode to when it's running just standard on the non enhanced mode on the 15 meter cable. But It's annoying me in an ocd way. I have several reasonably priced HDMI repeaters arriving tomo to see if it fixed the problem, 1 AC powered, 1 micro USB powered and one powered off the hdmi cable. All claiming to be able to push 4k@60hz over 25+ meters. I've also ordered a variety of cables to get me the 12 meters I need.
Here's everything I've order and gonna try out. Well, it all arrived. First thing I checked out was to see if the extender boxes would work with the 15m cable and a smaller 1m cable coming out of it into the TV. Worked straight away on all devices, powered and unpowered.
Am able to set the 'enhanced mode' on the TV's HDMI ports and can now get 'FULL' as an option in the nvidia control panel for 'output dynamic range' (which visibly makes the colors more vibrant) and can also set color format to RGB instead of that Previous one. Would there be any benefit to changing the 15m HDMI cable to the 12m one or using the two 7.5m cables with the extender in the middle? Or does all appear to be good now? Also, with the 'output color format' in the nvidia control panel, there are optios for YCBCr with 3 different last numbers, 422, 444 and 420. Are any of these better than RGB?
One last question. If I were to set up an HDMI 2.2 8m cable to an identical TV in the other room, how will I know the cable is doing its job? Will it be the option for 10bit in the nvidia control panel?
